2059 West Washburne Ave., Chicago, Illinois
Anixter Village, completed in 2007, is a two story building providing 15 apartments and supportive services to people with spina bifida and similar disabilities. Each one bedroom apartment is completely accessible to facilitate the most independent living possible for each resident. In addition a full time staff and programmed spaces provide additional services such as vocational training, cooking and shopping lessons and assistance with transportation. This facility is the first of its kind in the nation and hopefully represents just the beginning in providing supportive housing for people with spina bifida.
