Jeffery Highlands Apartments

7130, 7144 and 7147 South Jeffery Blvd. and 1962 East 71st Place, Chicago, Illinois

A group of four adjoining apartment hotels are combined into a National Register Historic District recognizing this distinctly Chicago building type.  The buildings were rehabilitated as a multifamily complex containing 198 affordable apartments in Chicago's South Shore community. Typically six and seven stories in height the small apartment hotel type studio apartments were combined into larger family-type  units. Building exteriors, including fenestration, and the major interior lobby and corridor spaces were restored following the Secretary of the Department of the Interior's guidelines.  The completed project received the National Trust Honor Award in 1989.
