Jeffery Highlands Apartments

Located at 7130 South Jeffery, 7144 South Jeffery, 7147 South Jeffery, and 1962 East 71st Place, the Jeffery Highlands Apartments is a group of four adjoining apartment hotels are combined into a National Register Historic District recognizing this distinctly Chicago building type and rehabilitated as a multi-family complex in Chicago's South Shore Community. Typically six and seven stories in height, the small apartment hotel type studio apartments were combined into larger family-type units. Building exteriors, including fenestration, and the major interior lobby and corridor spaces were restored following the Secretary of the Department of the Interior's guidelines. The completed project received a National Trust Honor Award in 1989.
